We empower Club members to make healthy choices for immediate and long-term health benefits, while setting themselves up for success in school.
Every day at the Club, we provide nutritious snacks, fun, engaging fitness activities, and competitive sports, to get Club members excited about leading a healthy lifestyle. Also, through health education, we teach youth how to nurture their own wellbeing, helping them succeed in school and grow into happy and healthy adults.
Behavioral Health Services
Our team of licensed mental health professionals provides on-site social and emotional support to empower youth and families to address their needs and achieve their goals at no out-of-pocket cost.
We encourage Club members to be active for at least 30 minutes every day by providing opportunities for them to participate in competitive sports and intramural teams, as well as other forms of exercise, like running, karate, judo, yoga, and biking.
The Edible Schoolyard at the Willie Mays Clubhouse gives Club members unique access to a large garden and cooking classes. Gardening programs are also offered at other Clubhouses across the city.
Healthy Decision Making
WhyTry, our hands-on decision-making program, teaches youth critical social and emotional lessons, like how to confidently resist peer pressure.
We offer gift certificates to vision service providers so youth and their adult family members can access free eye exams and glasses.
Healthy Relationships Program
Though we promote abstinence as the only 100% safe method for avoiding the physical and emotional risks inherent in sexual activity, we also provide comprehensive, medically accurate information on birth control and STI prevention. Our staff also help youth develop healthy communication skills to talk about health-related issues with partners, peers, and trusted adults.
