Pathways to Success

2018 Annual Gala and After-Party Recap

2018 Annual Gala and After-Party Recap

Last Friday, we hosted our Annual Gala at the Fort Mason Center Festival Pavilion and raised $2.55M to support the young people of San Francisco and their pathways to success. Here are a few of our favorite moments from this unforgettable event.

Interactive Reception

Guests were invited to begin the evening at an interactive reception, which featured programs that have created pathways to success for young people. Attendees participated in the Reality Store – a financial literacy program for youth – wrote postcards to kids who will be traveling to Camp Mendocino this summer, watched special youth performances, and met Club members who shared how the Club has made an impact on their lives.

Zones at the reception were focused on healthy lifestyles, good character & community engagement, job readiness with earning potential, academic success, Camp, and creative arts. The reception also featured three incredible youth performances.

Dinner Performances and After-Party

During dinner, several Club members took the stage, shining a spotlight on the incredible talent and courage that is nurtured every day at the Club. Mission Drumline opened the program with a resounding performance, followed by heartfelt speeches by teens from Camp Mendocino and two Youth of the Year finalists.

Later, Alexis from Mission Clubhouse rocked the house with a stunning rendition of “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys, and Johnya from Don Fisher Clubhouse got a standing ovation for his performance of “Glory” by John Legend. The dinner program also featured inspiring speeches by BGCSF President Rob Connolly and 2018 Citywide Youth of the Year Janice-Nicole Conley.

By the end of the dinner program, we had reached our goal to impact the lives of 6,000 youth in San Francisco. Every guest who donated held up a glow stick, signifying their individual power to change lives.

But the evening wasn’t over yet. Together, we danced the night away at a standing-room-only After-Party, featuring a rousing performance by New York band Lawrence.
